Growing the Body Sensations brand in 2013

A friend of mine and I decided to go into cosmetics business in 2012 (Body Sensations) without a clue of what we were doing. We were so excited when we started, rightfully so. Two smart, talented and ambitious ladies going for their dreams. We took it lightly, little did we know how much of our time and commitment starting a business required. A few months later, we were discouraged, we were tired and we weren’t seeing any results. We started thinking business wasn’t for us.
But we didn’t give up. We refuse to give up. We will continue to do great things…if we don’t give up…

Gone are the days of relying on a job to make ends meet, there are so many opportunities out there for us. Think big, dream big, live big!
Max Moyo, a motivational speaker once visited our workplace and he said something that changed my outlook on life. He said, the reason you are not as rich and as successful as you want to be is because you don’t know who you are. At first, I was offended and defensive. I thought to myself, who is he to tell me I don’t know who I am, of course I know who I am. But I walked away that day on a mission to discover myself, on a journey to understand myself. I asked myself the daunting question, ‘Who am I? Outside of what I do, who is Nono Cele?’
As I write to you today, I can say, he was right. I was stuck then because I didn’t know who I was. I hadn’t accepted yet that I am smart, I am fabulous, I am amazing, I am great.
When we say such things about ourselves, people tend to think we are being arrogant and so we hold back, we act small, we think small, we dream small because we are scared to fly. We allow fear to prevent us from greatness. We allow people’s opinions to take priority in our lives, and in so doing, we put ourselves on second place.
So I say to you today: How dare you! How dare you play small with your life! How dare you settle for playing second fiddle when you can be the very best.

Being the best doesn’t mean beating others, it means, being the best you can be- running your race at your own pace, staying in your own lane.
The ‘Aha!’ moment for me was when I realized that my success was not only about me. By being the best me I can be, I inspire others to do the same. I realized that by thinking small, I was holding those around me back as well with small ideas, small thinking and small dreams.

I am not saying we must all quit our jobs, but don’t settle. Be the businessperson you always wanted to be. Don’t put your dreams on hold for a job. And don’t be misled, no matter how good you are at what you do, no one is irreplaceable at the workplace. Get up and do something with your life. Make something of yourself. Go back to school if you must. Start a small business if that’s your dream. Make the changes necessary to have what you want. Be bold. Be more about action than talking. Get started… Write that proposal. Do that research. Take a chance. Before you know it, your dreams will be a reality.

After all, you are the child of a King, how dare you play small!

Love always,
Nono Cele
