Why do we sometimes feel such a contradiction of emotions when someone we know has a good fortune? Why do we suddenly feel inadequate? Perhaps it’s not an issue with what we’ve done with our lives, but more a challenge of overcoming envy and our own insecurities about who we are and what we’re capable of doing.

Be inspired by the progress of others. Be glad when people around you are doing well. Don’t sit there and constantly look at others and compare. Realize that they are running their race and you need to run yours.
Envy is wishing we were someone else. We want what they have. We want their talents, their resources, their gifts, their relationships, their abilities, and their stuff- we don’t want ours. We convince ourselves that they are better and by default, we are worse- this is a lie we believe and it causes us to hate ourselves and envy others… so unnecessary, so unattractive, so pointless.

We need to see other people’s progress for what it is; progress for them, not competition for us. Other people’s success does not make us smaller.

The same way the body has many parts, all equally important; you have your own role to play in a big world. We can’t all do the same thing, we can’t all be good at the same thing- but we can all be good at being who we are.
It’s okay to want more – we all do. But sometimes we get so caught up in our desires that we forget about the things we DO have. Don’t take for granted the things you HAVE accomplished and what it took to get there. To someone else, you may be THEIR idea of success.

Keep celebrating others and cheering them on, keep the right perspective and keep being perfectly you!

Love Always,
