If I could write a letter to me and send it back in time to myself at 17, I’d say…
Take your talents seriously. Realize that you are a powerhouse, in you, there is greatness.
There are buildings that will never stand unless you build them. There are people who will never realize their full potential unless you inspire them. There are things that the world will never enjoy unless you create them. So don’t be lazy, don’t doubt yourself, don’t play small, not for a second. Yours, is a path of greatness that requires great responsibility, hard work, so go on, walk in your destiny…
Don’t wait for people to tell you can do it, trust God’s path for you. You don’t need anyone’s approval to shine, so quit trying to fit in, quit selling yourself short, quit telling yourself you can’t do it. Stop looking at other people for answers, and stop listening to the crowd- trust the voice within. Let that voice guide you.
Make time for fun. Laugh until you cry. Don’t give up your smile. Even when life hurts, keep hope alive. Have as much ice cream as you want. Learn how to be in the moment without losing yourself. Every morning take time to appreciate the sun rise, and have more moments of enjoying the sunset. Never take for granted the simple pleasures of life. Be good to yourself, spoil yourself, be happy with yourself.
Love deeply, love passionately, love fearlessly. But also, love enough to let go. Love enough to forgive. Love enough to know when to walk away. Love enough to know when to shut up. Love enough to know when to speak up. Love enough to know that love should never hurt. Love enough to know that the truth about love is found in 1 Corinthians 13.
Don’t settle for anything that looks like love but isn’t love, shaped like love but isn’t love, has a form of love but is not love…
Never take your eyes off the thing you were born to do. Never forget your purpose… Never doubt your greatness.
